fighting for her life at johns hopkins bayview. firefighters pulled a woman from a burning apartment just before 9:30 this morning. crews were called to the 8800 block of tamar drive. it took firefighters about 25 minutes to put out the flames, but not before three apartments were damaged. investigators are trying to determine how the fire started. now and 11 news update to a story we brought you as breaking news on wednesday. the woman who led police on a miles-long pursuit caught exclusively by sky team 11 remains in jail on $125,000 bond. according to court records, phylicia hoffman has faced dozens of fat -- alycia hoffman has faced dozens of traffic charges in the past and was arrested just days before. the cart reportedly belonged to her grandfather, a retired sheriff's deputy. police say that these victims, two 16-year-old boys, and 19-

year-old woman, and a 20-year- old man, or hit, and at least two suffered life-threatening injuries, but the driver remained on the scene. investigators are trying to figure out who was at fault. in harford county lawmaker is taking on bge in an effort to keep consumers from paying o extra charges. the utility wants to charge customers who want to opt out of installing a smart meter in their home or business. the new meters are supposed to keep the track of who is without power and for how long, but some consumers are concerned that the smart meters could cause health problems and compromise privacy. the debate has prompted the public service commission to allow a temporary opt-out option. now a delegate has introduced a bill making the option permanent entry. >> if someone does not want a

>> this afternoon, president barack obama will lock them afghan president comet karzai to the white house -- will come afghan president hamid karzai to the white house. hallie jackson has more on what is expected out of the meeting from our washington bureau. >> today's face-to-face visit between the two presidents is the first since president obama was reelected and caps a three- day-long visit to the u.s. by the afghan leader. the u.s. is looking to its transition out of afghanistan, figuring out what its role will be over the next two years and how many troops might stay beyond 2014. president karzai hopes to work out the foundation of a security agreement at today's meeting, but it is not expected to be fully fleshed out until november of this year.

which says it was disappointed with the meeting. they believe the white house is less focused on keeping children safe and more focused on restricting guns to lawful owners. but other groups present at the meeting say the nra will have to budge. >> they said, "oh, yeah. , that is interesting, but we want to talk about regulating firearms itself." >> they realize the game is changing so quickly and me to them that they will have to adjust. >> the task force on gun control is expected to recommend stricter background checks on gun sales and a ban on high capacity clips. the suspect in the aurora, colorado shootings is given more time to consider a plea. a judge granted the defense the delay in the arraignment process. >> the decision to go to trial is not unexpected. the evidence was overwhelming.

>> calls all morning this morning. we're beginning to see more precipitation attempt to come out of those clouds. in little northwest of us on the i-95 corridor at cecil county, and more significant rates west of hagerstown. that is drifting towards pennsylvania. we will see more activity during the afternoon and evening hours it will not be a big rain. it will be ushering in warmer temperatures, although it is not particularly one right now. we've been pumping around in the 40's and low 50s. normal highs about 41. after we get this batch of rain in the weekend, we will get a little spike. we may spend a day or two is 60 before cold weather returns. we have an east to southeast

wind, and that combined with a cloud is holding temperatures down a bank our area. mid-forties and a general in the baltimore area through most of maryland. the sun has been a little more active in the south. we see some green passed garrett county. monterey's only 42. there is warmer air coming in from the west. we are stuck here with a little wedge of chilly air into our area. the biggest trends are from just west of hagerstown -- the biggest race card from just west of hagerstown into eyrie, pennsylvania. a little edge of chilly air here. that may take awhile. it will be tough to make it to 50 today. eventually the mild air will get in here before we get a shot of relief cold stuff by the end of

next week. speaking of really cold air, what is highlighted in the shades of blue and pink are the readings that are below freezing, below 32 degrees. the coldest of the air is coming out of canada now and settling into the northern plains and rocky mountains. tomorrow, game time in denver, temperatures are expected to be only around 15. that cold shifts to the new east -- the east by next week. afternoon showers and in the forecast. se and the five to 10 miles per hour. shower activity is kind of scattered and limited to this afternoon and evening. once all that goes through, we will be in good shape going into the weekend. maybe close to 50 today, but in the 50's to the 60's on saturday. in the 60's on sunday. rain chances spike up on monday and tuesday. temperatures go down by the end of the week. >> a year since the costa
